Skincare Rec’s for the Boys!
Ladies and gentlemen, aging might be more acceptable for men in our society than it is for women, but that doesn’t mean it’s right and it doesn’t mean men should slack on their process and self-care.
Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just keepin’ it real.
Skin is skin, and the boys need help from time to time too, especially if they’re over 35 and love those outdoor sports.
So I thought, why not spread the love and the plethora of beauty knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years, and help a brother out?
Whether they’re family or a lover, they’ll thank you later AND look amazing. It’s a win-win!
Below are some of my favs!
Cleanser
Jack Black Deep Dive Glycolic Cleanser – I love this organic product! Glycolic Acid, Volcanic ash and Kaolin Clay work seamlessly together to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, smooth and resurface skin and draw out impurities. Which is exactly what you want for his dry skin! Just be sure to pitch him a moisturizer with SPF, as his skin will be more sensitive to the sun. $22 www.getjackblack.com
Moisturizer
Kiehl’s Age Defender Moisturizer – This formula is made for men. Specifically those with thicker, coarser skin. I would not recommend this for those with oily skin or a heavy hand in warmer climates. However it’s a great winter formula to calm and quench cold, dry skin! Key ingredients include Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Linseed Extract and Caffeine. Combined they exfoliate, firm and energize the skin. $40 www.kiehls.com/mens
Moisturizer with SPF
Clinique For Men™ Broad Spectrum SPF 21 Moisturizer – This oil free, light weight formula improves skin’s condition and absorbs quickly. Great for all skin types. Not organic, but top rated. $28 www.clinique.com/mens
Shave
L:A Bruket Shaving Cream – Kiss him without the sand paper stubble that messes up your makeup and/or exfoliates your skin! This natural, organic & lightly scented formula softens hair, allowing for a closer shave and NO SAND PAPER. Made in Sweden. $42 www.labruket-usa.com
Beard Conditioning
Baxter Beard Oil – Sealed with the lovely scents of sandlewood, jasmin and cedarwood. This Squaline, Avocado Oil and Vitamin E enriched daily oil moisturizes facial hair as well as the skin underneath. Tames and shines ALL unruly beards, YAY! $27 www.baxterofcalifornia.com
Eyes
SkinCeuticals Eye Balm – You guys know I’m always all about this line. It’s unisex and literally has something to correct and align any skincare concern. So it’s no wonder this made the list as an incredible eye cream for men. I recommended this to my dad who is 70. He loved it so much he started using it all over his face and his skin is almost TOO smooth lol. If the word ‘balm’ sounds heavy and greasy to you, I assure you it is not as long as you use a small amount on each eye. The formula hydrates the dry eye area, reduces puffiness and reverses signs of aging. $82 www.skinceuticals.com
