Hey beauties!
First off, I hope everyone has settled into these uncertain times and are safe.
Whether that looks like epic self care, resting and recharging, launching or catching up with that passion project or business you’ve been too busy for, connecting with those you love or ALL OF THE ABOVE.
I hope you’re using these once in a lifetime times to get your priorities in check.
One thing I’ve been slacking on and am recommitting to is posting regularly on here. There are tons of products I absolutely love and want to share and I’ve missed you guys dearly!!
The Haul
My makeup haul over the past few weeks has been epic and I found a few liquid eye shadow goodies I was using regularly on clients prior to all this madness, along with a new launch I’ve already ordered, think you’ll love and want to hear what you think!
So what are Liquid Shadows?
Liquid eye shadows are fairly new to my arsenal. I OWN IT! For a very long time I was rested on my product-junkie laurels and got accustomed to the basic eyeprimer-then-powder-shadow-sequence on both myself and clients.
Then I fell in love with what I was seeing on Danessa Myrick’s Instagram and how she was using her brand of creamy liquid pigments and the rest is history.
Don’t get it twisted, my Urban Decay and Mac primers are still in rotation but now we have EVEN MORE options – YAY!
What I love about the liquid shadows I’m about to get into is that they’re quick, easy to use, versatile and have a powerful impact on any look.
Whether I’m using them alone, as a base color or as a glitter accent, this is super helpful when I’m slammed at the studio or have a production or wedding and need to work fast AND keep the quality of glam my clients have come to expect.
1. Danessa Myrick Beauty – Colorfix
As I said before, I love this ENTIRE line! I can tell it was created by a legit makeup artist by how versatile the products are; lending to a lighter kit and the ability of more play and diversity with less products.
The first product I bought and use the most is the Colorfix Cream Color Matte Liquid Pigment in shade Celebration. It’s a deep brown with a cool undertone and some frost for texture.
While I use it for the eyes, it’s formulated to be used on the eyes, lips and cheeks. (I think I may play with it on the lips for a vampy look.)
This product is a creamier liquid and dries quick. I apply it to both eyes, lashline to crease, and diffuse the crease line quickly with a blending brush.
Afterward I go in with my liquid liner, tight line the upper and lower waterlines and finish with mascara OR I use it as a pretty base to build on with powder shadows and THEN follow suit with liner and mascara accordingly.
If you’re a beginner or work slow, I’d suggest doing one eye at a time otherwise (and depending on the eye shape you’re working with) you’ll have a line in the crease.
Unless that’s the look you’re going for, for say a runway look – the product will dry at the crease and any powder shadows you put on top will reflect the lack of blending in the result. You may or may not like this. (I don’t.)
Here’s a link to a blush shade I adore that looks dope on the lips and eyes!
2. Stila Cosmetics Glitter & Glow and Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows
I LA LA LA LOVE THESE! I’ve been using them on wedding clients for that extra dose of glam in the pictures and more recently on a model for a lifestyle/boudoir shoot.
These also dry quick and you need to move fast! You can use your fingers but my nails are too long. Instead, I use a flat synthetic concealer brush to place the product on the lid or lips and build.
I left the finished look a little diffused on my wedding clients.
Whereas with the model the glitter was quite intense but still resulted in a soft and pretty smokey eye.
I can say there isn’t a product I’ve EVER used from this line I didn’t absolutely love.
The shade range is diverse and the sky is the limit for the bling these offer.

3. Too Faced Melted Chocolate Longwear Matte Eye Shadow NEW!
Last but not least, these are new and I just ordered mine! Again, I’ve never used a product from this line I haven’t absolutely loved, so I put some faith in the unknown (something I’m getting quite comfortable in given these Covid circumstances lol).
Here’s the shimmy off the site:
Innovative 2-in-1 whipped liquid eye shadow formula that delivers rich, intense, chocolate-scented matte color in skin-centric cocoa tones that can be worn alone for an airbrushed finished or as a pigmented primer that locks-down for 24 hours of crease-proof, waterproof wear.
